Can I make money from blogging? The answer is absolutely yes you can however it is not instantaneous money overnight. You have to have a structured plan for setting up your blog, adding unique valuable content and then after you've gotten it ranked and are getting quality visitors you need to effectively monetize your blog. Taking your blog from its conception to making money can be summed up in a few steps.

1) Domain name (unique, your own, key word enriched)

2) Blogging software (preferably wordpress)

3) Set up regular times to post unique content

4) Concentrate on a certain niche (focus is the key here)

5) Once you start getting 500-1000 visitors start adding advertisements

What should I blog about? When you create your blog you need to conquer one niche at a time. In other words if your blog is about internet marketing do not start blogging about fitness or finances. This will divide your audience which in turn will decrease readership and targeted traffic. Once you determine your targeted niche you need to post articles and related posts every few days. After you have a schedule and I suggest you come up with one, it's the only way I can keep track of what I'm doing and when, you will get yourself into a good habit and it will come like clock work.

Should I place ads on my blog? Whether or not you place ads on your blog is a personal standpoint. If you want to profit from it you will have to add some sort of advertisements. It could be adsense, affiliate marketing or your own products. Your first concern should be your content and the education of your followers. Once you start getting traffic you can integrate ads into your article posts and on the sidebar of your blog. You don't however want to turn your blog into one big advertisement, this will chase away more people then it will attract.

With a little hard work and planning you can turn a passionate niche into a profit generating blog capable of giving you a full time income.
